closure
Even though closure is one of the soundest things we get to experience in life – defining the end of an era and telling us it’s all over – it still never really satisfies us. None of us can seem to come to terms with it and in most cases, it leaves us feeling utterly defeated. Because honestly, when it comes down to it, all closure really is is, is confirming everything you already knew but weren’t quite ready to accept.
It shatters that last bit of hope that still had you hanging by a thread by believing in something that was never going to turn out as you hoped. After that thread is cut, you hit the ground hard, and lying there, you torture yourself about having held onto something for so long. In retrospect, everything seems petty.
Why do we waste our time choosing to believe in such fictitiously unattainable outcomes? Is it because we’re all too ignorant and naïve to comprehend the fact that it’s not worth losing the time we invested? Or are we simply soul searching for a deeper meaning?
