Qualifications

  • Languages

I have always been enthusiastic about culture and languages, as my mother is English and my father Belgian, but I was raised and educated in Switzerland. English and French are my mother tongues, but I am also fluent to a native level in both German and Swiss German (yes, there is a difference). Having studied Spanish in secondary school, I can still read, write, and confidently hold my own in a conversation. At the moment, I am teaching myself to speak Italian as well as learning British Sign Language (BSL).

  • Secondary Education

I completed six years of grammar school at Kantonsschule Zug, including an exchange year in Quebec and a dissertation project in my final year that got a distinction. In 2018 I graduated grammar school and obtained the Swiss equivalent of an international baccalaureate in ten subjects – German, French, Spanish, English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Music – with an 80% grade average

  • Higher Education

My vested interest in language and writing brought me to the UK in 2018 so I could study Creative Writing and English Language at the University of Brighton. After completing two years of my degree, I intermitted my studies in 2020 after lockdown when I was offered a fantastic opportunity to join Balmonds Skincare on a full-time contract after my hard work as a temp there. In October 2022, I returned to university to complete the final year of my joint bachelor’s degree and will be graduating in the summer of 2023.

  • TEFL

Alongside pursuing my studies at the University of Brighton, I wanted to deepen my knowledge and passion for the English language. So in 2019, I completed a 140-hour Premier TEFL course, incorporating 50-hr TEFL, 30-hr Grammar & Language Awareness, 20-hr Video & Observation, 20-hr TEFL, 10-hr Teaching Large Classes and 10-hr Telephone Teaching Courses.

  • Digital Diploma

After building and designing my own website from scratch as well as creating content for my own social media, I decided to complete a course in March of 2022 to take my digital skills to the next level. The course covered a range of disciplines in the digital tech sector, and I was rewarded with a Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Working in Digital Technology Industries .

  • OTHER

You may well have gathered that I thoroughly enjoy any learning opportunity that I can get my hands on. I’m always on the lookout for exciting short courses and workshops across all disciplines–so if you know of any that would be of interest to me, do get in touch!

In addition to the qualifications already listed, it’s perhaps worth mentioning that I am also fully first-aid trained and have a driver’s license.
